I am a Batman guy because he is totally self-invented and can still be whatever you want — tough, funny, camp, depressive, morose, hot, wimpy, moral, amoral, etc. He’s the ultimate blank slate for the fan to write on.

Cynthia – This tool gave me that ah-ha light bulb moment. It enabled me to weave the characters’ inner emotional growth with the outer goal, which took me a long time to figure out before. BONUS: after filling in the six stage plot structure “chart,” I had my synopsis! Synopsis writing had never been so easy. I hope this tool works for you too!

Great post. What I want to figure out is how to stop the bullying from ever getting started. What messages are these kids getting that allows them to think being mean for the sake of it is okay? If everyone, young and old, put their energies toward kindness instead of anger this would be a nicer world.

Yes, those bad guys cheat. (BG) The hero has to do things honorably. Yet, when one fights for her/his life, it is no holds barred situation. I see no problem with kneecaps, groin, throat or eyeballs when having to defend against somone intent on killing you. IMHO

Yet, if it a mugger trying to take one’s wallet and if the character does not preceive severe danger, s/he can rachet down the techniques and targets required to convince the perp that they picked the wrong target. BG

Awww! Thanks Melinda. I’m thrilled to get to this point and it was great having a friend there (I got to use her as a crash test dummy. LOL).

Irene, at the school I attend there is one more belt level in between Brown and Black. But I’ll get there.
